Science Matters in America
Science Matters in America runs five 5-week STEM programs per school year to elementary age students. Each class lasts 1 hour and takes place at the school on Thursdays. Programs are different every year and cover different topics. Our clubs combine fun and science by incorporating teacher demonstrations and hands on activities in a fun, science-filled classroom. Each week, students also complete a take home project that reinforces the science concept being taught.

Mountain Lions XC Fall program / Nederland / Grades K-5
The Mountain Lions Cross Country Fall running program, provides a fun and encouraging environment for Elementary school aged children to learn the basics of Cross Country running over a 6-week period. They will learn good running form, improve both strength and endurance, while in an environment focused on the enjoyment of running. The fun and informative environment will include: form drills, warm-ups, stretching techniques, conditioning exercises, distance training, cool-downs and running games. Each participant will receive a technical shirt.
Mountain Lions is a proud partner of Lifelong Learning, and all of our running programs are held at Elementary schools within the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD). Practices are held once a week after school, with one “introductory to XC racing” on Saturday, October 13th at Nevin Platt Middle School included in the program. At the end of the 6-week program, all participants have the option to compete in the inaugural “Colleen De Reuck Cross Country Classic” to be held on Saturday, November 3rd. Tuition: $51.00Materials Cost: $5.00
Single Track Mountain Bike Adventures (SMBA)
Riders will explore new trails and trails close to home.
Spring: These after school and weekend rides are designed to get riders out on the trail, ready for summer and having fun. The session is 2 weeks shorter than the Boulder and has 1 snow day built in, because, well…this is Colorado after all.
Summer: Summer session is awesome. Each summer session includes advanced coaching, singletrack trail riding, community stewardship, “Big Buddy, Little Buddy” mentoring, special events, fun days, skills intensives, support at optional races and more. This session is perfect for riders that love to ride and never seem to want to stop. Riding 4 days a week for 4 weeks is a lot of riding so each week is designed with hard days, easier days, longer days, shorter days, skills days and fun days.
Fall: Fall session is great because the temperatures are cooler, the weather usually cooperates, the trails are mint, and the fun is endless.
If you have weekend, after school or summer commitments, check out the part time option and one day options. Riders may choose to sign up for just the weekday rides or the weekend rides in the spring and fall and they may choose to ride 8 or 16 days during the summer sessions.
